Role OverviewAs a Leisure and Lifestyle team member specialising in dementia care (Memory Support Unit), you'll collaborate to implement programs, ensuring residents achieve their goals and preferences, while also fostering a choice-oriented environment with the clinical team to maximize their quality of life.
Other than this you will:- Deliver choice-oriented activities
- Support resident-led leisure and lifestyle activities
- Facilitate resident-initiated lifestyle events and provide community event information
- Assist residents to and from group activities
- Provide one-on-one emotional support
- Foster a culture of choice and goal achievement among residents
- Assist in resident assessments and care plan reviews
- Document activity attendance in clinical records
- Participate in audits and quality improvement activities
Please note that this is a part-time role with 22 hours per fortnight available. Ideally, you will need to be available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in Week 1 and Friday in Week 2.
What you will need to succeed:- Relevant tertiary qualification (health, community services, aged care, wellbeing)
- Recognised training in Dementia and behaviour management
- Sound understanding of dementia
- You'll need a creative mindset to implement engaging activities tailored for residents with dementia
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision, exercise initiative and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated experience in identifying activities that reflect residents’ personal interests
- Sound understanding of person-centred care
- Sound verbal and written communication skills and ability to prioritise and organise workloads.
Apart from this we ask that you have the following:
- National Police Check or willingness to obtain one
- NDIS Worker Check or willing to obtain
- 3 x COVID vaccinations
- Influenza 2024 vaccination
