Lead Strategic Growth and Innovation at Nova
Nova Systems is a leading Australian-owned engineering and technology company supporting national security, defence, and critical infrastructure. As they enter their next phase of strategic expansion, they are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Director of Growth to lead Nova’s enterprise growth strategy.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, this senior leadership role is responsible for driving business development, capture and proposals, innovation, and future capability development across Nova’s key market sectors. You will lead the design and execution of growth initiatives aligned to Nova’s 2030 Strategy, identifying high-value opportunities and securing long-term, sustainable success for the business.
This is a business-critical appointment that combines market engagement, commercial excellence, and capability innovation to ensure Nova maintains its competitive advantage—today and into the future.
The opportunity includes:

  • Strategic Growth Leadership: Develop and implement Nova’s ANZ growth strategy. Lead pipeline planning, identify and lead strategic pursuits, and manage client engagement across priority sectors.
  • Bids and Proposals: Oversee Nova’s ANZ bid function, embedding best-practice frameworks, increasing win rates, and ensuring strategic alignment and commercial acumen in all submissions.
  • Capability & Innovation: Champion future capability development and lead innovative future offerings and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on R&D and emerging technologies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Nova Systems with clients, industry, government and academia to shape market perception, build strategic partnerships, and position Nova for long-term growth.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Work across the Senior Leadership Team and with the Executive to align growth priorities with enterprise investment, delivery capability, and strategic direction.
  • People Leadership: Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Growth team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.

What we’d like you to bring:
  • Extensive experience in senior business development, bids, or capability leadership roles—ideally within Defence, Emergency Services or Space sectors with advanced technology systems integration offerings.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex bids and capture activities in competitive environments
  • Proven commercial acumen with experience managing pipeline, contract value, and pricing strategy
  • Deep understanding of capability development, R&D, and innovation in complex technical settings
  • Outstanding relationship skills with the ability to influence clients, industry, and internal senior and executive leaders
  • A collaborative, values-led leadership style that empowers others to perform
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, business, technology, or a related field
  • Australian Citizenship and ability to obtain or maintain NV1 security clearance
